Stretch Task Blog #6

For this blogging article, I read TechFast: Facebook Privacy, Steam Hacked, IPhone Batteries, and Google TV. http://techland.time.com/2011/11/11/techfast-facebook-privacy-steam-hacked-iphone-batteries-google-tv/ . It had the latest news on technology problems.
The Article said that Facebook might make new privacy changes, but they would have to get the user's consent.
Steam, Valve's popular game download site, was hacked. The hackers gained unauthorized access to user names, passwords, email addresses, billing addresses, and credit card information of the users of the site.
Another thing that the article said was that the iOS 5.0.1 update came out yesterday, but it still hasn't fixed the battery problems in the new iphones or ipads yet.
Also, the price of the Logitech Google TV Box has been marked down from 300 to 100 dollars for the holiday season.

Stretch Task Blog #5 - iPhone 4S Sold Out Online

I read the blog article called: iPhone 4S Sold Out Online. It was very interesting. The article talked about how the new iPhone has sold out on the internet. The websites for Apple,Verison, and Sprint have no iPhone 4Ss as of now. The iPhone 4S sold out online within the first twenty four hours of release. Half of the people that have ordered new iPhones have already had and iPhone, and are just upgrading. The other half is people upgraging their older models and buying their first iPhone "It looks like another blockbuster launch for Apple, only this time with three carriers," said Analyst Roger Entner.  "With this iPhone launch, we will have broken through the 50 percent penetration level [for smartphone usage in the U.S.]" Now that the new iPhone has been released, about half of America's cellphone users are using smartphones.

Stretch Task Blog - In Classroom of Future, Stagnant Scores

The Blog that I read to do my stretch task was called "In Classroom of Future, Stagnant Scores". The article talked about a technologically advanced school in America. The school is full of laptops, active boards, and things like that. I was surprised when it said that the test scores of the students hadn't gotten any better.Schools are spending billions of dollars on technology, yet they are laying off teachers or cutting their budgets with little evidence that the technology is actually helping kids learn. Using laptops in schools doesn't help kids with math, or science very much, but it does help them learn more about the world. I think that technology teachers should think about what could actually improve the students grades, rather than wasting money on things that kids don't need.

Stretch Task Blog - Facebook ipad app still snagged in negotiations

For my stretch task blogging article this week I chose the article called "Facebook IPad App Still Snagged in Negotiation". It was very interesting and I chose to read it because I have been wondering when the Facebook IPad app will come out. The article talked about how Apple and Facebook have been having problems with each other. The app has been ready to put out for a while now, but Apple wanted to save it for their new IOS 5 software. Facebook didn't want to even make an app for the iphone anyway, but they did to make themselves more popular. Facebook is still debating weather they should let apple use the Facebook Ipad app at all. Especially when the new Iphone 5 is completely integrated with Twitter, Facebook's competition.
I thought that this article was interesting.

Stretch Task Blog - Jesus Daily on Facebook

I thought that this article was very interesting, it was about a Facebook page called Jesus Daily, and how it is one of the top pages. It said that a diet doctor, Aaron Tabor, created this page in April 2009. "I wanted to provide people with encouragement." said Dr. Tabor. The Jesus Daily page has more likes and comments than Justin Bieber's, or Lady Gaga's Facebook page.
I thought that this was a very interesting article, and was amazed by how popular the Page really is.

The PC : Then and Now

I thought that this article was very interesting. It showed how the computer has changed over 30 years. The older PC had less memory, a slower processor, and only displayed text in the color green. The new Lenovo PC had tons more memory, a quicker processor, displays every color, has wireless everything, is two inches thick, and is a whole lot lighter. The technology today has improved loads. Almost everything now a days is done electronically, thanks to the new and improved PCs, laptops, and cellphones.Where would we be without them?
I learned a lot by reading this intriguing article on how computers have changed.
